NORHAM BC reducer inserts
Specifications

The NORHAM BC reducer inserts are used exclusively to supplement the couplings from the NORHAM Flexible couplings ranges.
Made of EPDM, they serve to reduce the internal diameter of the coupling being used (or to increase the external diameter of the smallest pipe) and to offset an excessive difference between the diameters of the pipes being connected.
The NORHAM BC reducer inserts is required in all cases where the difference between the external diameters of the tubes being assembled is larger than the delta (see table 2 below).
The NORHAM BC reducer inserts can be placed on top of one another to further increase the connection combinations.
They are available from DN 50 to 2000 mm, in 7 thicknesses and are purpose-built according to your requirements.
The NORHAM BC reducer inserts are included in the European Technical Approval no.09/0248 and are CSTB certified with the Technical Application Document no.17/10-225_V1 (ask us for relevant references).
Installation

- Slide the NORHAM BC reducer inserts onto the end of the smallest pipe and the NORHAM Flexible couplings onto the largest pipe.
- Bring the two pipes as close together as possible and drag the seal onto the ring up to its collar.
- Finish by tightening all the worm drive units in sequence across the width of the coupling to the recommended torque. (the recommended torque setting is indicated on the coupling’s label and in the laying instructions supplied with the coupling).
Example of application:
Connecting a clay pipe to a corrugated HDPE pipe with a combined use of 3 NORHAM BC reducer inserts and a NORHAM Flexible couplings.
Dimensions
Available reductions with NORHAM BC reducer inserts
Thickness | Outside diameter increase (mm) | Ring to put in O.D. (mm) |
---|---|---|
5 mm | 10 | 55 à 75 |
8 mm | 16 | ≥ 100 |
16 mm | 32 | ≥ 115 |
24 mm | 48 | ≥ 250 |
32 mm | 64 | ≥ 315 |
40 mm | 80 | ≥ 500 |
48 mm | 96 | ≥ 500 |
If the difference in outside diameters is bigger than "Delta", a BC ring is required with NORHAM Flexible couplings range.
BC solutions required when: | Delta |
---|---|
For O.D. ≤ 120 | 10 mm |
For 120 < O.D. < 300 | 12 mm |
For O.D. ≥ 300 | 15 mm |
